BDSM Research Team

Dr. Brad Sagarin is a professor of social psychology at Northern Illinois University and the fearless leader of the Science of BDSM Research Team (www.scienceofbdsm.com). With a passion for untangling the complexities of consensual kink, Brad’s research dives deep into the psychology of BDSM, the power of social influence, and the beauty of numbers that tell a story. His work has been published in scholarly journals and featured in media outlets like The Economist and New Scientist. A dynamic speaker and media consultant, Brad blends academic rigor with a flair for making taboo topics tantalizing. With degrees from MIT and Arizona State, he’s equally at home geeking out over stats as he is exploring what makes intimacy tick.

Randal, aka evilgeniusofevil, somehow tricked several universities into giving him degrees and now spends his time asking the important questions, like “How does one get wetter?” A researcher with the Science of BDSM team, he leads studies on squirting, the crossover between kink and swinging, and what people actually do when they think no one’s keeping notes.Beyond the lab, Randal is a community leader on FetLife, where he runs events ranging from sultry dancing to hilariously terrible erotic films to hands-on vulval casting. He’s an enthusiastic supporter of people exploring their desires, loves hearing about what really happens in the wild, and believes that sexual communities thrive when people can be curious, open, and shamelessly themselves. If you’ve got a curiosity, a story, or a sexy data point to share, he’s all ears—just don’t be surprised if it turns into a research question.

CoolCat

CoolCat exists at the intersection of pet play and age play. They attended their first ABDL event in 2003 and then went on a mission to find all the other cats. CoolCat began teaching in the kink community at CAPCon and later founded a dedicated pet play programming committee to help bridge the ABDL and pet communities. They also organized Chicago Kritters, a munch created to welcome species and identities often overlooked in the mainstream pup and handler scene. Today, teaching remains the highlight of CoolCat’s con experience. Their workshops on pet and age play give people permission to have fun, be themselves, and rediscover the simple joy of play. They hope their authenticity and free-spirited energy help others feel more comfortable in their own skin (or fur).

A lifelong learner, she invites you to provide candid feedback on or ask questions about any class, tie, or technique you see her use.

Scott Smith

Scott Smith began exploring the facets of S&M at an early age. With his creative and rather deviant mind, he enthusiastically developed his techniques of bondage and suspension from his experience with nautical and high angle rope work. His powerful physical interactions of his activities were initially necessities for various activities including white water rafting, scuba, climbing, and paramedical rescue. Scott brings a distinct intensity and passion to the ebb and flow of learning, teaching and actualizing S&M. A believer that the magic of BDSM comes through the connection of the participants, his workshops develop and nurture that connection; while maintaining a decidedly sadistic edginess. Scott has presented countless workshops and seminars throughout North America and abroad for organizations large and small. Scott is internationally known for his rope work, connection, and edge play workshops. Feel free to contact Scott through FetLife at Scott_Smith, or his email Scott@OneWithKnots.com.

StrumPet

StrumPet was introduced to Scott Smith (here at the KK venue) by mutual friends in 2013. A few hours, one memorable elbow drop, and lots of tears later – it was clear that a powerful connection had sparked. Their bond, strengthened by an intense play style and mutual respect, continues to grow both inside and outside the dungeon. Together, they actively share their experiences and insights with the BDSM community through education and storytelling. StrumPet identifies as a service-oriented bottom, drawn to structure, problem-solving, efficiency, and Sir’s unmistakable evil chuckle.
