Heat, Strike, Heal

Fire, metal, and a steady hand: everything you need to understand before the first strike. This introductory level branding workshop is open to everyone and covers the essential elements of strike branding. We’ll look at the safety and medical considerations first, including negotiation and consent, skin preparation, recognizing when a burn requires medical evaluation, and caring for a fresh brand. Next comes design and setup: appropriate and inappropriate areas for branding, design considerations, design transfer, the heat source, branding tools, positioning the person being branded, and maintaining open communication throughout. Finally, we’ll examine the procedure itself, including heating the metal, striking, and evaluating the results.
